Shown here is the latest refinement of the Kenu sled. It has been widened
in the tail area, the special ultra tough blue nose cone has been extended on the
bottom to make sure it rests on the ski transom, and super strong plates
have been added near the bungees to reinforce the tie down area.
This is "the" hot sled for Lifeguards and tow-in surfers around the world.
Does everything well- 2 person rescues, pleasure cruising, carry
cargo, tow-ins,- good load carrying ability because of size and thickness
of sled. It has a nice kick in the tail to make sure it lays properly on
the water off the sled, and to prevent the tail from submerging when in
the reverse mode. The pad is 1/2" thick, and smooth enough to easily pull yourself or
someone else up onto the sled, and yet is sticky enough so you don't slip
around. It also isn't rough and textured like some other sleds that
eat up your knees and chest. This sled is the direct result of Kenu's close collaboration with
North Shore and South Shore Oahu Lifeguards.
Includes the large 5" main carabineer (large removable stainless hook)
and what you see here with 2 smaller 4" carabineers that tie to the end of
the outrigger bungee cords (provided) that connect to your PWC.
Various rail, nose, and tail colors available.
All of our boards are constructed with a special super tough plastic
bottom, 4" thick water resistant polypro core and a slightly thinner super
tough top plastic that creates an incredibly strong sandwich structure
built to take whatever you can dish out. Our boards are very safe
with thick rubber top pads and polyethylene rail foam that is glued
on with our exclusive custom made adhesive-less likely to hurt you if you
get banged by the sled. Mostly
all rescue sleds use a Polypropylene foam core which is notorious for
delaminating the rail foam if it is heat laminated on. Beware of
similar looking and constructed sleds that use this inferior heat
lamination to bond their rail, tail, and nose foam and also use tape??!!
to bond on their thin, rough, easily delaminated foam top pads. While
we're at it, let's talk a little about those sleds with the rough pads.
Sandy Beach, Hawaii lifeguards are a good source of professional life
savers who use many different types of sleds on a daily basis. They have
to ride for several miles around notoriously rough Koko Head waters. They
have tried the boards with the rough pads and don't like them. After only
a few minutes of this pounding in these rough waters, they say they start
to lose skin on whatever part of their body that is in contact with the
rough pad. They say my Kenu board is way better and smoother. The much
thicker and not as rough pad that I have on my board makes it way more
comfortable and safer on rough long rides.
The rope and tubing is threaded through the board,
"sewing or stitching" the board together for maximum strength and long
life-ask a Hawaii lifeguard. The bottom won't fall off!?? like some other
manufacturers who heat laminate on the bottom and use thin spray on
adhesives with nothing to mechanically hold the board together. I repair
the competitors sleds and bodyboards here in Hawaii because I am the only
one who really knows how to make major repairs. I've seen it all, and I
can tell you that heat laminating-while cheaper and faster, is not the
best. If you want long lasting quality-get Kenu!
